Nothing Extraordinary
For the first time in a long time, I have nothing to complain about. Yes, that's right, nothing. I could complain about politics (living in DC it makes sense), but honestly, there are enough peope who do that for me. I feel neutral and affected righted now. Like the color beige. No excitement, no major upsets, no color red. Over the past week I have conditioned myself to watch less TV. It wasn't making me smarter, wittier or prettier, so I just stopped watching so much of it. I've since read two books and I'm on my third, although I must admit I get a ton of reading done on the metro during my commute.
I still have unfinished business with my car, which has restricted me from driving to my favorite dry cleaners (because they clean in-house), my favorite coffeeshop (because they roast their own beans) and my favorite grocer, Trader Joe's (which needs no explanation), oh, and I can't forget the World Market my secret favorite place for purchasing cases of bargain wine. All of these places, unbelievably are in the Commonwealth of VA, my least favorite place to live. Least favorite to live, one of my most favorite to shop (unfortunately).

Hurricane Isabel
"VERY WINDY. HEAVY SQUALLS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS
IN THE MID 70S."
I've been keeping up with the hurricane online since a watch has been issued for my area. The only question now is: What is a squall? Answer: A brief sudden violent windstorm, often accompanied by rain or snow. Getting home from work is going to be very interesting on Thursday.

Tongue Tied
As the seasons change, I find myself at a loss for words. I am consumed by work and training for a half marathon. Life is more interesting than boring right now, yet, I have nothing to say. But right now I also don't want to share. I would like to keep what's private, private. I misplaced my usb cord for my camera, so I can't post any new photos and as much as I have been enjoying food and dining out lately, I have no desire to discuss that either. Maybe I am just too caught up in the moment to stop and write.

Weekend Review
Running for a Cause
The weather was perfect, low to mid seventies. There must have been between 70-100 people standing around dressed in shorts, t-shirts and running shoes. It was the first day of the Aids Marathon training for the Mardi gras marathon and I was one amongst the crowd. I have never run a marathon, let alone a 5 or 10k but I signed on for charity. The money raised will go towards the Whitman Walker Clinic, which provides assistance to those with HIV and AIDs. Long story short, for the next 6 months I will be training to run a half marathon. I may or may not track my progress here. It is enough work trying to find the time to run, let alone the time to write about the training.
A boring Festival
The Adams Morgan Day festival was suprisingly boring, although I believe that is the intention these days, since it is highly political due to its history of violence. I did pick up a cool photo from a photographer doing really neat things with his digital camera. While I brought my camera with me to the festival, I didn't find anything particularly photo-worthy.
A Burst of Summer
On a lighter and happier note, the farmer's market was excellent this weekend. Peaches and nectarines were so ripe and fresh, they dripped of sunshine. A farmer from Pennsylvania had cinammon cantaloupes, which look like creamy colored cantaloupes on the outside and with soft, sweet white flesh and bright orange seeds. Refrigerated, it was the perfect replacement for a frozen fruit bar and equally as refreshing.

Car Wars
Thank goodness for short weeks. I have spent the past week occupied with what to do with my car. I rarely drive it, even on weekends, yet it is costing me way too many dollars in parking tickets to warrant keeping it in my posssesion. So as a last ditch effort, I decided to pour even more money into the car and garage it. It was a simple and last minute decision, but one that will save me money in the long run, with any luck. I feel like I have a huge hole in my bank account, which now leaks of all things car for a vehicle I rarely even drive, but refuse to give up. I don't understand how people can actually live in the DC area without a car. I have such a dependency on sprawl stores, developed from my days as a suburbanite.
