Seneca Village

speaking to k over the past few days, we've decided to do a project together. while we were out having drinks with his friends at a lounge they mentioned a place called seneca village which was part of central park before there really was a central park in the mid to late 1800's. the history is fascinating. i never knew there were slaves in ny and that africans, germans and the irish all co-existed in seneca village. ahh. something of interest now. more to come.

There are Cool Things Out There

I always learn and read so many cool things online, but I always forget what I found. So i guess it is time to link things so that i can remember. for example, i found blogcomp today. This site compares blogging tools, which is helpful, although blogger seems to do the trick for me. Then there is Jesse James Garrett's, The Elements of User Experience pdf, which is a chapter from his latest book. He also has a great site which i frequent.

tuesday morning. another possible sniper shooting. this time all kinds of roads are closed and i just spoke to j who, just as i had imagined, is stuck in traffic. teachers calling the radio station saying their kids are sitting in understaffed classrooms because of the traffic.

I'm a Powerpoint Professional

yes. the day is not over. i have now been approached to create 10 more images for a powerpoint presentation. let me think about this for a second. information designer doing powerpoint graphics. yeah. this is the reason i decided not to become a graphic designer. i need to work proactively, not reactively. the only saving grace is that it will pay for for my powerbook. i must keep that in mind. otherwise, i will drive myself crazy, because this is not what i bargained for. hopefully k will decide he wants to move to NYC or anywhere else where we can start over.

NYC was awesome! Great food, great shopping, expensive drinks, who could ask for more? I had such a great time with K this weekend. And, it looks like the logo design went over well. K and I are thinking about collaborating on a prject together. I think that could be good. Wow. I don't have anything negative to say. yet. the day's not over.

Free to Pump Gas

k got our tickets to nyc last nite. can't wait to get there. i had to pump gas this morning. never have things been so crazy that one's hands would tremble as they tried to insert the checkcard into the the payment slot at the gas pump. i thought last year was terrible with planes deliberately crashing into buildings. but being frightened to go the gas station? when i told my friends i needed gas, each one looked at me in horror, asking where i would go and how i would do it without getting hit. the problem with a sniper is that you can't see the person. you can't tell where they are or when they will shoot next. the problem with northern virginia is that every gas station is off a major route, so no place is safe. hey, but i had those powerpoint graphics to look forward to this morning so life can't be so bad. in all seriousness though, at least i do have some real projects going on, like a logo design. arrgh! i feel so uncomfortable today. i wish i was working home, on a g4 powerbook. ;>(

The Sniper is in my Neighborhood

it's tuesday. sniper hit my neck of the woods last nite. do i change my dialy routine? i don't know, i don't think so. i think getting hit by a sniper is as random as being in a car accident and we all know there are some things you can't prevent no matter how hard you try. and oh yeah! i have more powerpoint graphics to work on this week! not that i haven't spent the last 2 years working as an art director or anything and now i do powerpoint. i don't care how important it is deemed, i still would just rather not do them. yes, and please check my portfolio for my powerpoint graphics, i'm sure you will be impressed. yeah, that's something that will get me into a master's degree program. not.

Blogger Blues

well, it's wednesday, nothing too new to report. still trying to get this blogger thing to match my website. i guess it will be a work in progress for a while. today i need to complete the information architecture and workflow for this online course i am designing. the high level site nav is already complete, thank goodness!

another day, another blog, well, i am getting much better at this ia stuff. this course is somewhat complex, but definitely doable. hit some rough spots yesterday, but nothing i hope can't be smoothed over. i just couldn't believe I ran into this problem. (the lead on the project didn't allow room for programming on the project.)
